Today Bonnie and I, along with our Ottawa friends Cory and Poonam, went to the National Art Gallery. It is our second trip, but certainly not our last. It is as though each piece requires three or four viewings to be truly appreciated.My favourite piece of this visit was Hans Baldung's Eve, the Serpent, and Death. Baldung depicts Adam transforming into Death after eating the forbidden apple. It is typical Renaissance painting, but the subject matter seemed much darker than the surrounding "Virgin with Child" pieces.The gallery is quite huge and there is a lot left to explore. Can't wait!
