Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - Wednesday Blizzard

Everyone feel sorry for residents of Saskatoon today - the university has closed and the buses stopped running. Makes you feel like curling up in a nest of blankets! Thanks for pic Chris!

Slate's Top Ten Movie Picks

Here's a great list of movies to see in the next little while: Slate's Top Ten. Bonnie and I are going to Half Nelson in February (it's at the indie theatre) but I refuse to see Pan's Labyrinth. It's just too creepy. Anyhoo, I encourage everyone, once again, to see Little Miss Sunshine and Stranger Than Fiction, which I thought should be on everyone's year-end list. Anyone willing to declare the best movie of the year? Hint: it's The Departed.

P.S. They forgot "Filliam H. Muffman".

Worst Ads according to Slate

Slate's Seth Stevenson has articled his picks for worst ad of '06. His picks are mostly American (I've only seen two or three of them) and seemingly rare commercials; my picks are based on repetition. To me, an ad may be tolerable on first viewing but can quickly become hated after repeated viewings. The ads for prescription drugs or that horrible ad for the walk-in tub for seniors come to mind. Similarly, everyone who watches Jeopardy will know the painful ad for Head-On ("apply directly to the forehead"). Not only is it a terrible ad, it may be the worst idea for a product I've ever heard. Any other terrible ads out there?
